Food, Inc.

My daughter and I went to see this on a whim when it was playing in theaters here and she was greatly affected by the things revealed about our food sources and supplies....for all of about two days. haha! That's how long it took for a whopper to look good again.

I dont eat red meat or pork anyway, if I can at all help it*, but I've been like that for about 20 yrs. There's an occasional steak or something, like a couple a year, but that's it.

However, this movie opened up so much I didn't realize about the business end of where our food comes from, what the food producers and processors come up with to add in to food products (that soylent green looking stuff that goes into ground meat), how and why corn is utlilized...

I was grateful it was not an expose on slaughterhouses sponsored by PETA. It turned out to be a much more informative work than I thought it would be. I recommend it with an open mind.

(*-I was in the hospital this past weekend and was finally allowed back on "regular diet"....the nurse brings my food tray and says "If you dont finish this off, we're gonna have to put you back on IV fluids." My arm was butchered from that stupid IV line...but it was a coin toss for a second when the lid was lifted to reveal chunks of gravy covered cow slopped over egg noodles. I ate it, for survival, like a cannibal in the snow.)

Yeah, great film. Glad to see it nominated for an Oscar. There's some powerful stuff here.

I enjoyed it because it wasn't all conspiranoia, but they revealed some harsh truths that I was not aware of.

I'm so leery of eating chicken now, but I still do. Yuck.
