Fonzie jumped the shark, but the show didn't

If American viewers had only known that it would eventually give birth to "Joanie loves Chachie" we would have beat it to death in it's first season while the Cunniingham family still had five members (whatever happened to older brother Chuck anyway?).

Went to Korea, developed battle fatigue, came home restless, joined a motorcycle club, took to the road and was never heard from, again.

We don't talk about older brother Chuck.
 
Now see, I woulda had so much more respect for the guy if he at least came out and admitted that that episode wasn't his best work.

Or, at least come out before "Nuke the Fridge" had taken his place.

Saying a show continues on really doesn't mean that it's still as good as ever. (Example: the last several years of the Simpsons).
