Font Question

I need to purchase a font called "Typeface 6 & 7" for $99.

On the purchase page, I have 3 options:

- PostScript Mac
- PostScript Win
- TrueType Win

Initially I will be using the font on a Mac. However, there may come a day, when I would like to use it on a PC. So here are my questions.

Don't TrueType fonts work on both systems and is there any advantage to using the PostScript version over the TrueType?

Thanks

Chris

They used to, but things have changed since I was foced into the Mac pool.

My question to you is, do you HAVE to buy it? There are plenty of free fonts out there that are identical. You would only need to buy, if you will have a client that uses that exact font. Otherwise, use a freebie, and include the font with the project. Just a suggestion.

Not to Hijack this thread but my question is along the same lines...

I normally go to Dafont.com...its a great font resource...

However, is there a site that is able to mimic fonts? For example, I was thinking of doing the Heinz 57 commercial thing and for my tag line, I wanted the same font as is used in the Heinz 57 logo...

Anyone know of a way to create a font like that or copy and paste the font into a search engine that can locate it for you etc? Or is it simply trial and error?

Thanks!
PS CMessineo...I'd have responded to your question but I am strictly a PC guy....

Rim- Take several hours and a billion pop up ads, and search for free fonts. It is a real pain in the arse, but I end up doing this every few months, just searching for "the right font" for some project or another. It takes a lot of patience, or a sick masochistic desire, but you will find what you want. The last font I used was the Disney font, and that took a good 45 minutes and several sites to find.

The font in question, was used to create the logo for my site: www.OffStageFilms.com

I need to recreate the logo larger and in a different color, so I need the same font.

So, does anyone know about the style I should get Mac Postscript or Win TrueType?

Generally speaking you want a true type font. Im surprised you can only get the mac version in post script.

If you can still get a hold of the program Fontographer, you should be able to open the Windows TrueType font and save it as Mac TrueType. I haven't done it for a long time, but that should be an option.

It's a cool program to tweak or create fonts from scratch. You might have fun making your own.

I use a program called 'CrossFont' to open Mac fonts on a PC... don't know if it can convert in the other direction though...

chris, forget the font you're using; i have something WAY better!

it's called papyrus font. have you seen it?
