Follow Spot in Orange or White?

Hi,

Wondering that do i need to apply the Orange Filter for my Follow Spot for more skin tone in the Concert Live Shooting?

orange? Maybe a CT orange, but I've always thought that it's a bit false. On my followspots I've got an open white colour temp, with a warmer and cooler option - the warmer is a very pale pink, and I always use that to get a llittle nearer the tungsten kind of white. The trouble is that if only the people on stage wore a little stage makeup, it would be simple to get rid of the pasty face appearance.

What do you mean by pure white? I have had troubles more than once with a follow spot being daylight hmi while all the other lighting was tungsten. This is usually the case when the lighting guys are doing mostly live shows and never film or video, they just don't care about color temp that much...

Last time I had this I was able to gel the follow spot and I decided to use 3/4 CTO in the end as a compromise between color temp and lighting intensity. Had I used full cto the intensity would have been too low.

If your follow spot is in the correct color temperature you might use a 1/4 CTO or cosmetic rouge (I love that gel for skin tones!) to warm up the color temp a little if that is what you want. However I think if the follow spot is supposed to look like a classic follow spot, I'd rather not warm it up but leave it pure white (given it is a correct pure white!)
