Follow Focus Without Rails

I am wondering if there is a way to mount a follow focus without rails. I would like to have something that I could mount directly to my camera without a big rail system. So far the only things that I have seen are products like lens strap (http://www.lensstraps.com/) which straps plastic around the focus ring and inserts a pole. Is there some way to mount a traditional follow focus onto a camera without the rail system.

I was thinking of using a magic arm clamp or something like that. Has anyone ever tried that.

Thanks for any help.

nope.

i cant imagine ANY single arm/clamp being rigid enough to not introduce some nudge somewhere in the process.

i wouldnt let rails be the problem for you though. you can get a basic chinese dslr baseplate and a pair of rails for like $75 or less. and if you cant afford $75 you cant afford a follow focus.
