hi
does anybody know why are those
follow focus systems so darn expensive???????????
and what is it that they do, besides "focusing" and making your camera look more pro.

You gotta keep in mind that stuff like that isn't made in large quantities, and at least with the chrosziels, everything is made from Machined metel- an expensive process in itself, amplified by the relatively low production runs. Follow focus rigs are a fairly specific, exacting piece of equipment, and thus the costs involved are higher. You're right though, they are insanely expensive for what they are, but actually do aide in focusing alot, but in my opinion are only needed when you need a focus puller. Some people like the focus on the side better, you can do better rack focus's with them....they should be cheaper though.
