Follow Focus Question

So I've noticed that my Nikon lenses which I purchased for my Brevis adaptor- when I focus them, the focus ring moves 1/8"-1/4" in/out when focused from 0 to infinity.

How would this work with a followfocus? Does a FF for SLR lenses have an extra wide middle gear, so that as you rack focus, the focus gear can be free to move from one end to the other?

Or do I have incompatible lenses for a FF?

Please help.

The thickness of the lens gear should be greater then the travel of the focus ring, so the lens gear is always meshed with the drive gear.

Might be cheaper the other way around.

I know what you mean. due to the design of the SGfollow focus, the lens gears are 10mm thick, which is ample to cover the travel of a moving focus ring.

Depending on the design of your lens gears, a thicker drive gear would indeed be cheaper.
