I'm sorry if there's already a thread for this, but I need some help getting started with this... I'm looking to build a geared follow focus for my rig. I've seen stuff on making DIY gears, but nothing really on the actual follow focus itself. So can anyone share some tips, parts list, or even plans with me on how to build one???

I don't know about building one, but I've ordered a DFocus. Supposed to be pretty solid and didn't cost that much. I think I payed like 250 bucks for it or something + shipping.

Just buy gears form some UK shop, they are very same as Redrock ones and cost only 11 pounds. They are two of them - with metal and acetal gears - buy acetal one.

I have to say that the DFocus at its price point and the fact it works well kinda makes doing a DIY follow focus an exercise best left alone.

The 2nd gen DFocus is $119 and lens gears are $29 each. It's worth a readymade right-out-of-the-box product at that price.

I have the first gen version and it does the job.
