"Follow Focus" except for zoom

I'm familiar with the different "follow focus" devices that you can purchase for the dvx and also the remote zoom controls. But what I'm wanting to do is a very slow manual zoom. Do they make a device like the follow focus that will work on the zoom ring as well? It would seem that you could achieve the very slow zoom that you would want if you had a manual gearing system like that of the follow focus.

I know they have devices of this nature for film cameras. I've never seen one for the DVX though. Sorry:(

Re: "Follow Focus" except for zoom

couldnt you just use servo zoom on the top of the dvx handle, and set it to the lowest setting? thats a pretty damn slow zoom...

Re: "Follow Focus" except for zoom

No slow enough if you want to start from a dead stop. I've always had the same problem with the DVX100. I've used some rail mount powered zoom controlers before on film cameras. I believe the one I've used a few times in the past was called "Zoom Force". Anyways while Im sure you wont be able to make the gears mess perfectly with the DVX, I would think that you could mickey mouse something and just use the friction between the two to do the job. Go down to your local rental shop and do a test. Let us know.
