focus tips for adapter use

Does anyone have advice to getting sharp footage using a adapter. I am currently shooting with a HVX200 and G35. I use a marshall for focusing but even then sometimes I slip and dont get proper focus. Someone advise me to use a mag light to focus on. Do you guys have any advice?

Hello, I have A G35 as well, one thought is you can use a focus chart/ test card with a light on it, such as a mag light. Fly it in like a slate so to speak, and check focus. Position it exactly where you want to put your focus marks, especially if you have a follow focus or otherwise where your subject is going to be.

My camera has peaking and expanded focus, so it's pretty easy to check, some monitors have peaking as well and that is extremely helpful. Double check you are satisfied with the back focus on the lens and you can get infinity and beyond. And with the G35 that you are not zoomed in too much because it will get softer. Try your zebras and set one of the settings low 50, and see if you can emulate focus by sharpness in luminance, this may work, i'm not sure but i thought out loud there!

I have been very pleased with the sharpness and the look of the G35 adapter , let us know how it goes
Cheers
