Focus Mathmatics for 35mm Adapter

I really thought I read something on this before but now I can't find it so forgive me if this is redundant.

I just read Barry's sticky on "Focusing" and as usual it was very insightful and I understand that with the adapters we are focusing on the ground glass and gaffer tape across the focus rings so they never budge, but... can we then rely on the ft/m ring on the 35mm lens or is the math screwed up because of the gg focus. Can we accurately measure the focus normally? And is the EVF DTL button still useful with the 35mm adapter?

:dankk2:

P.S. Just ordered the Boot Camp DVD I & II and I'm looking forward to watching them.

Hmmmmmmmm... good question, also how about the in-camera ND's. I recently read i need glass ND's due to the focusing screen being outside the camera in the adapter... dont know why that would be the case?

I just conducted some test the other day and the ND seemed to do it's job with the adapter on (ie. provide less focus to the background than without).

EVF DTL is most definitely still active.

As to whether the distance scale is accurate or not, that all depends on the quality of the adapter you're using. If it's been designed properly such that the lens sits at the exact proper distance from the ground glass, then yes the distance scale *should* be accurate.

I have a new Letus. I suppose I could test it and see if it's accurate. I don't have a monitor yet so I need all the help I can get.
