Flyboys

Hey Dave !

One of theose dudes is my bro-in-laws roomate. I'm looking forward to this; WW1 is not a genere that is addressed much. It was shot with the Genesis

David,

Of course it looks like Pearl Harbour and it also feels campy and cheesey too.

flyboys1.jpg

Same kind of shot used when Ben Affleck first goes to England to fight.

flyboys2.jpg

Similar kind of field shots used in the begining and end of PH.

flyboys3.jpg

Bombing shot.

Not to mention the colours and look of the movies feel similar also.

The cheesey bad dialogue is there also, just watch the trailer for the bar scene. "Did you slip there killer?"

Not to mention the added in love storyline (at least from what I have read). Thats why I love Band of Brothers so much, it focuses on what happened, not trying to add in more or take away to make it any less of a depiction of the real story.

I think this movie looks fantastic. I am really excited about the WW1 aspect as very few films have tackled that. I'll be seeing this one!

I love Film Discussion the most.

It looks like Pearl Harbor ? What argument are you presenting here?

What shot in Pearl Harbor ? I can think of one of the airfield that has a large building in the background, but this is a shot of the entire airstrip with planes and mechanics everywhere. The first shot of Affleck in PH is a MS standing on the 'front lawn' of the Badminton House in Glouchester. This is the Somerset House and the only thing in common with the shots is that there is an establishing shot of a large palace style building

You mean similar styled plane. The shot in PH is during the daytime in a southern farm field. This is at night in shrouded in fog. There is not a single shot in PH that resembles this shot.

Bombing shot.

This is a classic shot from the bombay doors from any bombing footy ever captured. Pearl was not the first to do this and this film wont be the last.

No no no. Pearl Harbor has a very over saturated feel to it. Like a living post card from the era. Although the look of PH changes from the beginning and to the end. Maybe it is just the coolness of the Euro scenes that you're thinking of, but the Euro sequences in PH are short lived compared to the 3 hour film

I think this looks pretty cool. I just saw a trailer for it watching a football game and had never even heard of it. I dont see how people could not be excited about a movie with WWI dogfights. My favorite part of the Aviator was when they filmed the dogfight scene...hopefully this will be nearly a whole movie of that. Someday someone needs to make a quality trench warfare WWI movie as well....updated from Kubricks.

Did anyone else notice the several shots that were taken pretty much "as-is" from Hell's Angels? The EXCU on the pilot in the glasses, the blimp explosion, ect. I thought it was a remake when I first saw the trailer.

All the style and gorgeous shots didn't save Pearl Harbour, nor do I think it will save this one. Too much style, not enough substance.

For those who can't see the obvious links to Pearl Harbour, fear not, I won't sit around picking apart every word you type.

I do hope the movie is good, but it looks like its destined to be worse then PH. Not to mention Franco is a far worse actor then Harnett or Affleck.

How do you know there's no substance?

I say it looks as though, not that there is absolutely no substance whatsoever.

Everything I say is from is highly pretty trailer with its laughable dialogue and cheesey feeling it gives me.
