FLV Not Buffering

In the past I have created FLVs for the web and rather than the whole thing having to download before it starts playing, it buffers or preloads part of the video before it starts playing so that the user doesn't have to wait for hte whole thing and it will still play smoothly.

For some reason I am trying to do it now and the flv simply plays right away not giving users with a slower connection speed the oppurtunity to have part of the video load.

Here is my process:

Export FLV File. Creat new flash projec tin Flash 8. Import video. Progressive download. option. no skin(player). resize canvas and adjust flash frame rate. export movie (swf file).

This is a server side setting , not a characteristic of the video. You set a delay before the video starts

It will depend on what front end you are using, for example with JW Player it's called bufferlength , where "X" is the duration

so.addVariable('bufferlength','X');

Way way way back at version 9.028.0 of the flash player the property for FLVPlayBack components started being called bufferTime. This coincided with CS3 and Air 1.0. Its defaults to a bufferTime of 0.1 seconds (1/10 of a second). This can be changed to force it to a different longer time for use on old slow boat anchor computers or computers with stone age slow internet connections. Do NOT set it to zero.

So I would put that action script code on the first frame in the flash timeline? THe sceond frame would be the video? Sorry I'm a bit of a newbie at flash.
