Fluoros or CFL's - buzzing??

I have some CFL's in regular light fixtures in my house -- ceiling lights. They've been in place for several months. Lately I'm hearing a noticeable buzzing sound when the lights are turned on.

This has led me to think about you folks using fluoros or CFL's for your lighting needs. Is there a problem with buzzing or humming, which could be picked up on the audio track?

I've worked with Kinoflo Diva's and normal Kinos and haven't noticed any buzzing like I notice with the flos in my parent's living room. I believe that flim/video flos drive the lamps at a higher frequency--therefore no buzzing.

Makes sense. But it seems like a lot of folks are using CFL's as a substitute, and buzzing with them may become an issue. Wait and see, I guess.

Thanks!

I haven't seen too much of an issue with this in any of the types of fluorescents I use whether separate ballast units or self-ballasted types. There are some cheaper types which do buzz but these are usually not appreciated for the obvious reasons and therefore don't reach the mainstream in our uses.

Thanks Richard. I guess my big concern was people who're building their own lighting units using CFL's -- or using CFL bulbs in clamp lights and such. I've used them that way myself. I just wondered if anyone was encountering a buzzing problem. I shouldn't have included fluoros in the question, since I have no knowledge of or experience with using them. Thanks for setting me straight on that aspect.
