I have my Cool Lights video and along with that comes an ongoing edition to the video in the form of a download of plans and other information. Also on my site in one are or another I talk about it a bit. In general you usually have 3 or 4 pins on a ballast that go to the 4 pins of a fluorescent tube. You just have to follow the directions on the face of the ballast where they have a wiring diagram in most all the cases I have seen. For instance, on my site we sell Sylvania 2x55 ballasts for use with the 55w biax CFL tubes we sell and many others sell as well. The Sylvania ballasts have a wiring diagram on their face label. In addition on our website, we show a wiring diagram to a pair of 2G11 sockets.
and what about overdriving the tubes? I know it lasts less with overdrive and heats more. But as a cinematographer luminance is more important for me I've heard that KinoFlo ballasts overdrive the tubes.
How do you wire to overdrive? And does it change the color temperature?
