I am about to purchase a set of Miller Solo Carbon Fibre sticks. They come with a 75mm bowl which is fine and I will be looking to get a 75mm bowl fluid head to go with it. However, what I want to do is find a 75mm bowl head where I can remove the bowl mount and expose a standard 3/8" thread. The purpose of which would be to mount the bowl to the bottom of my slider, and then mount the head to the top of the slider, getting a good fluid head on my slider and retaining the leveling features of the bowl.
I'm not sure what fluid heads come with the bowl mount as a detachable adapter however. Is there any way I can find out? The two heads I am interested in are the Miller Compass 12 (ideally) or alternatively the Manfrotto 504HD (to save a good $1000). Would either of those work for what I am trying to do? Any other heads that people know of that do that?
