Im fairly new to AE. I own AE7 and i understand (what i think) is a little more than the basics. I have been reading the adobe classroom in a book guide and ive completed almost all of it. I want to create the illusion of 3D "floating" text on a 2D plane much like in the movie "cradle to the grave" if you havent seen that, look at this link http://www.creativecow.net/articles/kramer_andrew/colorkey/index.htm
you will see the "floating" text effect 20 sec's into the vid. Could someone please point me in the right direction as to how to achieve that? It would be apreciated.
Heres a screen shot of what im looking for:

Corner pinning and 3D layers would do exactly that. Corner pinning is a mathod of motion tracking, where you can scale, rotate, and get perspective changes on you graphic. 3D layers would allow you to take a graphic, move it forward along the z-axis and seperate it from the background element.

Creative Cow has great tutorials...Creative Mac also...

Do a google search and I'm sure you'll come up with some...

Take Rapier's advice and run with it. Couldn't have said it better myself. :costumed-smiley-047
