flipped image

I read that the HPX-170 will have the option of flipping the image on the LCD, so it can be used more easily with 35mm adapters. For some reason i thought that all of the 35mm adapters already flip the image. Which ones do and which ones dont?

The Letus is the only one of the four popular adapters that has a non optional, built in flip module, however all the other popular adapters (Brevis, SGpro and Redrock M2) now have an optional bolt-on optical flipunit that you can either buy with the adapter or add on later.

so anyone other than the letus, when shooting on an HVX, you are forced to see it upside down? Unless you buy an add on?

You have it backwards, with the Brevis, etc, your not forced into accepting reduced image quality though having to pass your light through extra opticals for no reason.

so all other 35mm adapters significantly reduce the image quality?

Using a flip unit does not significantly reduce anything, infact the SGflip increases edge to edge sharpness slightly. The only sacrifice is a little bit more light loss, as the flip unit is a massive hunk of glass that soaks some of the light up.

Other than that, theres no other disadvantage to using a flip unit (other than the obvious one that it costs more)
