Flippable detached viewfinder for HVX200

Hiya guys.

I've got my HVX and my SGPRO is arriving in a couple of days.

I'm interested in shooting mainly hand held and to correct the flipped image of the 35mm adaptor I was wondering if anyone can recommend a detachable eye piece viewfinder that could be mounted on the middle of the camera either on a rail system or on the hot shoe which has a flip image mode to compensate for the flipped image coming out of the 35mm adaptor.

Thanks

hiya Dude,

I never came across one in the end. So for now I've just got an LCD screen attached. Its heavy with the arm I have so I need to find a light weight arm to bolt it to my rails. Not very good especially as I'm trying to do a lot of hand held shots. I'll find another way.

BTW, your footage is fantastic. I've loved your work for a while. Very inpsiring.

Thanks,
Richard

DIY?
Or can you buy this?
Can you show a pic of the actual mount?
Like how is your monitor attached? (Wich brand of LCD BTW is it?)

Maarten,

This looks great! I've pm'd you for more pictures and also to see if you make them.

Dude, that rocks. By the way, if your lcd adaptor is on the tripod base, where did you put your SGPRO battery compartment? Mine is velcro'd to the tripod base.

thanks

Majormorgan,
I think you better ask Maarten to specify the specs on this unit. He is using a DVX not an HVX. The problem with the HVX is that you need a monitor with component (RGB) input to really see a crisp image and be able to focus the HD image. Most car LCD will not have component. So unless you are only looking for something to frame with, this monitor alone will not work.
Sorry to spoil the day. :(

Hiya Siniarch,

with regards to the monitor and focussing you are totally right. For the moment this is just for framing as I'm measuring focus and then setting it on the 35mm lens.

I already have a low res monitor [a Varizoom] which I bought just for framing purposes and it was trying to get it in front of my eyes when I am hand holding that I was looking for the solution too.

I will invest in something like a marshall in about 6 months time but for now its my cheap framer.

Thanks dude, totally cool advice anyway !

Maarten I'm excited to see more pics and the plans !!!!

Thanks guys,

well, then Majormorgan. It might be a little expensive, but an articulating arm is really versatil. that is what I have. I got it a www.filmtools.com (noga arm heavy duty about $140) but I really like it. its really easy to re-position and it will lend it self to many shooting situations.
Hope it helps.

Hi,

Israelie arms (noga arm) are for weightlifters :). Save yourself some money to enjoy a nice romantic dinner with your girlfriend.

Maarten,

Dude that looks cool. I'll PM you a couple of questions about attachments. This looks good and I think I have the ball joint alread from m Varizoom monitor.

I'll build it and paint it black as well !

Siniarch, thanks dude for the advice - much appreciated ! About 3 months ago I bought a Manfroto Clamp and Flexi arm. They are quite versatile, but a pain to clamp on and the fact it isn't locked into position like Maaren's solution meant I was way off what I needed. Also as the Clamp and Arm adds about 3 pounds of weight to an already heavy camera rig, I'm keen to save weight where possible!

But thanks again for all the help.

Once I've tried Maarten's arm I'll post results...!

Thanks

Thanks guys, btw the size of the plate was guessed, just buy a size that you think is right :). The sgpro comes with a screw that fits in the extra tripod plate hole.

Morgan, i haven't received a pm so far!
