flight trajectory animation using motion as in Kill Bill???

I'm trying to copy a simple animation done in the movie Kill Bill where you see an animated flight path of a plane flying across a map of the world.

In MOTION 3, say you have a plane icon and you have your motion path done with the plane icon flying along the motion path. How do you animate a line growing in length behind the plane showing the trajectory???

Thanks very much in advance for any feedback,

It can be done multiple ways depending on what exactly you want.

Masks are a good start. You can also do it using a particle emitter or a replicator. Depends on how far you want to go.

I figured it out. The easiest and perhaps best way is to have the Motion Path for the plane, then draw the trajectory path with the Bezier tool and select "B-spline".

Then position the trajectory path precisely over the Motion Path of the plane and finally throw a "Write On" behavior onto the trajectory path making sure the write on and motion path start and end simulataneously.

The plane would also have to have a "snap alignment to motion path" behavior and with the "anchor" point selected, you could move the plane precisely so that it is just ahead of the line.

Just thought I'd post this in case anyone would ever need to do the same animation.

Thanks anyway,

- Nicholas
