Flight of the Navigator

Runner Up.
Anyone remember this movie? I was a kid when I first watched it and it was one of my favorite movies of all time. I haven't seen it in probably 15 years, but it was remarkable from what I remember.

It made kids dream about flying, maybe that's why it was awesome. Also, a huge ass silver spaceship that could change shape, what's not cool about that!

Flight of the Navigator. Good stuff. Don't remember too much about it story wise. The kid was abducted and shows up eight years later. No more Starsky and Hutch! Lab tests! The chromed-out space ship with the voice of Pee Wee Herman!

Lots of flying around.

Don't forget about a young Sarah Jessica Parker in an early role.

Really!? I don't remember that!

The film does ROCK. At the end he wakes up back in his own time and it is all a dream...or is it...

It is so funny that you mention this movie because I remember the spaceship, but nothing else about this movie... I cannot remember a single thing about it other than loving it when I was a kid.

I made a film at film school with a chrome space ship... it was all my animators could manage back they because chrome blobs are really easy to model.

I'll see if I can post the clip when I get some time - done a 15 hour day today and up at 5am tomorrow :(

I own the flick! My wife and I have taken to getting movies that we grew up with in preperation of showing them to our kids one day. Cat From Outerspace, oh yeah, its on the list.

They actually did a midnight screening of it here in LA a couple of months ago. Complete with previews for some AWFUL 80's flicks.

Last month was a midnight showing of Clue!

Great flick. Loved it as a kid. Loved the floating steps effect and that wierd animal pet the kid ends up with.

I love movies with that feel to it.

Goonies qualifies as my fav. in this genre.

Dude! I totally love this movie and it was one of my favorites as a kid. I didnt think anyone liked that movie but me. That story inspired me in some ways - about waking up in a real world that isnt what you think is real. I wonder what that story would look like these days! Glad to hear people like it too!

I used to rent Navigator ALL THE TIME when we got our first VCR.

"Does this thing leak?!"
"I do not leak. You leak. Remember?"

I noticed it came out on DVD... I'm just so afraid it will be horrible and ruin the memories.

The physical ship used to be on the backlot at the Disney-MGM Studios park in Orlando... you could see it on the tour. Didn't notice it last time I was down there though.

Oh -- and rumor has it that the firewire logo was taken from a design on the floor of the ship. Guess I'll have to buy the DVD to verify!

I remember watching that movie over and over in college after my girlfriend got a copy of it for her birthday. She never really left the 80s....
