Flickering Light?

Hi guys...

Was wondering if I could ask your advice please.

How would I go about making a bed side lamp (the bulb) flicker on and off as though the bulb was on its way out.
The cheapest way possible if it is at all possible.
Not just an on and off as though I was turning the button on and off..god hope all that makes sense...you know the kind of cliched flickering light.

Thanks :dankk2::dankk2:

If you use a fluorescent bulb and a cheap dimmer (available at HomeDepot or similar) when you just slightly dim the dimmer the Fluo will start flickering like its at a rave. Not sure how much control you would have of timing of the flicker so yeah

thanks guys....

Some one told me that if I open up the plug and make one of the wires really loose,
put the cap back on the plug then just wiggle it about that should work?

Not sure I want to electrocute myself though:shocked::shocked:, any ideas?

THanks

def the way to go. Depending on how much resistance you add you can vary the speed of the flicker too.

You could also half plug in the lamp and jiggle the thing but it won't change the intensity of the light as much as the dimmer.
