Flicker Problem between cuts

I am using FCP4.5 and iDVD. When I view my project on the computer everything looks good. When I burn the DVD and watch on the TV I notice a strange flicker between cuts especially when I fade in/out to black. The transitions are not not clean. Any suggestions?

Probably haven't removed the pulldown. If you can go through frame by frame over youre cuts looking at an external monitor you'll probably see that the frames are overlapping each other.

If so try to remove advanced pulldown in final cut or you're gonna have to use Cinema Tools and do a reverse telecine.

Let us know what mode you shot in, capture presets used, sequence presets used, and how you exported it and we should be able to give you appropriate advice.

Shot in 24P, Captured and time line DV NTSC 29.97. I am exporting straight out of FCP (QT Movie) and then importing into iDVD. I don’t see any thing strange during the middle of a shot. It is only when there is a transition from one scene to another usually a black fade in/out.
Thanks for your help.

Are you using a dip-to-color transition? If so, you might try separating the clips by a frame and applying a normal dissolve on the end of each clip. Or using the pen tool and ramping the opacity at the ends of the clips.

Another possibility: try rendering everything out before exporting the quicktime.

I've seen some weird things too, but usually at the end of a show, so now I add 1 second of black at the end of everything.
