Looking to get a flicker generator to make some cool firelight simulations, anybody ever try this?

Just get a magic gadgets flicker box. Pretty much what everyone uses....Not sure how worth it, it would be to buy one though. Probably just better to rent one whenever you need it.

The flicker generator you found is probably based on a fluorescent starter which is simply wired in series. Are you handy? You can make one yourself with two or three circuits for about the same money. Will a hundred watts do what you want? By and large you will need to generators one for each of two different gels, usually red and yellow or amber.

There are lots of ways to do fire effects that don't use flicker generators. Search here a little.
