Flicker Boxes And Supported Light Types?

Hey all,

I'm looking into getting my first dimmer and/or flicker box, and I've heard things about having to be careful with what types of lights you use in them. Is it possible to use a flickber box/dimmer with standard practical light sources such as lamps with incandescent bulbs? Is it possible to use them on standard tungsten film lighting? I tried googling this but I found it very difficult to find and good answers. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

To add to what was posted above - bear in mind the "thermal inertia" associated with higher wattage tungsten lamps. A flicker box probably won't have as noticeable of an effect when used with a 1k as if it will on a household lamp because a larger filament takes much more time to warm up and cool down. If you need a very bright source to flicker at a high rate, this can be accomplished by using multiple smaller units together.

Thanks much to the both of you. So, just to be clear, I can use any incandescent, tungsten, or halogen bulb with a flicker box, be it a home lamp or a "film" lamp?

Thanks a lot! Also, another question...are dimmers manufactured that can control flicker, or would I need a separate box to add as a dimmer/fader in addition to a flicker box?
