Flex lights and v-mount batteries

I've been using Brightcast flex panels and am pretty happy with them. But I've been having problems with the v-mount batteries. I have a couple of 95w hour batteries and they sometimes shut off when the lights are at max power and I switch color. Then I have to reset the battery by plugging it into the charger. Anyone run into this? Does it have anything to do with the size/watt hour of the battery or the specific battery? I have a couple and they both do the same thing. I haven't had any problems with Sony NPF batteries on an adapter which run pretty well but are a bit cumbersome in comparison. Thanks.

Sounds like the batteries don't have a high enough amp rating. I have a couple 11 amp gold mounts that work with higher demand lights like the Aputure 120d.

Thanks Erik, for the simple answer. I'll look into that. I think the batteries I have are around 6 amp. By the way, I'm enjoying your coverage at Newsshooter.

I am using 5.5 Ah, 85wh Core Slim V-mount batteries on my Brightcasts and never had the issue you describe. With what make of batteries are you experiencing the issue?

They're 95wh Juicebox slim V-mount batteries. I'd been told they were pretty good batteries for the price. I prefer smaller batteries since I want to keep my mobile load light. I notice that Indipro Tools sells a 78wh and 95wh battery with 10 amp draw.

Just googling those, they seem to say 14.8V 3000ma right on them. That means they can only handle below a 45W power draw. That's pretty low for this kind of battery, and worth noting that as the battery is drained it'd drop down to around 36W...

Max Oak V Mounts, 177wh for $183.00 work great with my Brightcasts, runs them for about 2 hours, longer if dimmed down. Just watch Amazon for Lightning Sales. Very impressed with these for the price.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check those out. @puredrifting Just curious, are you able to take 177wh on the plane?

No, not plane friendly but they also sell the same in a 158wh version that you can fly with two of them. Same price on Amazon Lightning Sales. I just bought a couple of those as well. They come with a bulky but effective free D-Tap charger.
