Flashing fonts for use on DEMO reel

A friend of mine that edits on AVID told me he used to put the word DEMO on his demo reels every so many seconds of the reel and would have it flash on the screen when it did come up so it would deter people from trying to steal his work. He made it large enough so that letterboxing over it would really crop the picture down too! I was wondering if I can do that using Livetype or somehow keyframe it so it would flash. Or you know what, I just thought of something else. What about putting a full screen watermark over your piece. It would be faint of course but dark enough to wear you could see it after you adjusted the opacity.

I have some hot material and I just want to be able to protect my work before I start sending out demo's.

Re: Flashing fonts for use on DEMO reel

Why not just have "Demo Reel for your name" on the bottom of the footage for the whole reel, that way having it flash in and out won't distract viewers. I'd merely type the text then place over top of footage, then use image and wireframe to place it where I want. If the text clip wasn't long enough for the entire reel, I'd copy the placed clip then paste it over and over until the reel was done. You could even change the opacity so that it is visible but not overwhelming. Watermarking is another option used by others on this site.
