Flashes to the Markers

This is what I am doing right now. Editing quite alot of Music Video content on Vegas on my standby machine since the Premiere Pro one is down.

So I play the track with the audio and press M to set markers to the beat. Then I go and make a white solid and fade up and down for a flash and put that in the center of the first line, and just start copying that all the way through. Now that takes quite a minute for quite a few videos. Is there a faster way to do this?

Absolutely. Write a script that will add them all for you - one per marker at the marker locations.

Could you possibly link me to something in your forum that would be just that? I dont have the time to read through multiple forums and the search didn't bring up what i need. Dont even know what terms to use barely.

Thanks in advance!

I don't have a specific script for that exact task. I have scripts that go through markers and I have scripts that add events to the timeline and I have scripts that adjust fades but I don't have one that adds that specific event at all markers locations and adds the proper fades.

To go through the markers list, you would do something like (this is C# code):

Code:
foreach (Marker marker in Vegas.Project.Markers)
{
    Timecode CurrTC = marker.Position; //Get the marker position
    //Process the marker however is needed
}

Code like this will add a generated media to the timeline. This adds a Text generated media, but it can be change to do any generated media, that is 6 frames long at the cursor location which would need to be modified to be the marker location:

Code:
PlugInNode generator = myVegas.Generators.GetChildByName("Sony Text");
Media media = new Media(generator, "Guest");
MediaStream stream = media.Streams[0];
VideoEvent newEvent = new VideoEvent(myVegas.Transport.CursorPosition, new Timecode("00:00:00:06"));
myVegas.Project.Tracks[0].Events.Add(newEvent); //Adds it to the FIRST track - would need to be modified for the proper track
Take take = new Take(stream);
newEvent.Takes.Add(take);

To change fade in/out, you would use something like (which will add a 2 frame fade in/out):

Code:
newEvent.FadeIn.Length = new Timecode("00:00:00:02");
newEvent.FadeOut.Length = new Timecode("00:00:00:02");

Oh man, i dont know what the hell. I have an idea but this would take longer than just going through the videos for me i guess? You write this alot?
Maybe a service trade? http://www.337studios.com to see what i do and maybe i can get you to write something that can do that in a trade or something? How much would you charge?

Yes, I write this a lot! :-)

Send me an e-mail and we can discuss your exact needs. A script can't be written until I figure out exactly what you're needing. Above I just listed the basics of things similar to what it sounds like you need. Then comes the process of assembling them all together and making the necessary modifications. It DOES get easier over time!
