Flash videos...problem

Using Adobe media encoder, I export some videos into ''flash'' media that I put in my website using ''Dreamweaver 8''. When I preview(in Dreamweaver) the page in Explorer, it works fine...But after uploading the page on the site server and oppening it via internet, I can only see a big white square.

???

Did you make an swf or an flv of the video? Either will play just fine in the embedded flash player. You don't need an external component.

I will look it up...thanks!

Also, I just realize something...In after effects, when exporting the video into a flash file, the second setting (Macromedia Flass(SWF)) is in grey, so I can't choose it...is it normal...could this be a part of the problem?

No. If it works on your computer before putting it on the Internet, then you're fine. FLV is a better format anyway.

You'll find that Dreamweaver will create more files. You can't directly stream a FLV in the browser. It has to be implemented in some sort of flash application. Those can be embeded into HTML pages to reference the FLV.

Don't link someone straight to the FLV, since they won't be able to play it that way.

Dreamweaver will create a folder called "scripts" that is important. Without that folder you won't be able to play back the FLV video. It must be copied over with all the other SWF files.

To make things easy: make sure you create a new folder for your webpage on your local disc, put all your files in there, work out of that folder locally, then use whatever FTP program you put all the files on your web server and link people to the web page.

Just always transfer all the little files that get created.
