Flash problem

Has anybody lost flash functionality recently? I've got a Win XP pc that all of a sudden will not play flash on IE 7 and will not install the flash 10 version that pops up to download. All supporting stuff is there (shockwave, java).
It's a mystery...

actually I saw this on a friend's PC !!! At the end I told her to use Chrome as alternative browser !

download the flash uninstaller

run it (make sure all browsers are closed)

then re-run the online install

Should be good to go.

I've done all the uninstalling using Adobe guidlines, downloaded and used the flash remover, reboots after each step,, used the Microsoft reg fixer Adobe recommends...done everything but kill a chicken at high noon. I think one of the automatic update thingys has put an incompatable something in my machine. A google search shows a few people are having the same problem and are following the same remediation steps to no avail.

I once had a similar (though not as severe as your case) problem and for me clearing the cache and deleting cookies was the thing that did the trick for me. Kind of a pain loosing the cookies that are of use, and don't know if it applies in your case, but thought I'd mention it.

well its certainly worth deleting out some junk & temp files:

Get CCleaner, and clean out everything,

then run Windows Drive cleaner (right click on c drive and then click on properties, general tab and disk clean up, they may take some time, but worth it)

Also CCleaner has a built in reg cleaner too, run that as well.
