Flash plug in for Compressor?

does anyone know of a plug in for a flash setting that i can use within compressor?

i like using compressor and it would be great if i could just find a plug in and not have to buy a dedicated flash encoder system.

As far as I know no. You need to get Flash Encoder 8 (or might be 9 now) or try Flip4Mac's Episode. It would be handy, but I wouldn't count on it showing up in an Apple product for free since Adobe owns it.

yeah, i wasn't thinking free. just less than 700 or 800 bucks. it looks like episode now has a plug in for compressor. cool.

one more thing if you don't mind- i hate flash but i have to use it for a few things on this company's website i'm doing stuff for. what basic setting will be good enough for streaming content. (320X240) i know that's a broad question but i think my tech guy is crazy saying that 400kb per sec is too BIG. he wants more like 120kbps. i think that's crazy. 120kbps looks like a joke. who needs something that slow? (does 16k dial up still exist?) aren't most people able to stream around 400kbps?

I think YouTube crushes it down to 120-200 range. So if they want YouTube quality then yah that's how low you'd go. But if you want it to look decent (at least what I'd call decent), I'd certainly aim in around the 400 range for sure. At the end of the day, someone up the chain needs to decide what quality of image they want for their company/brand. If they think YouTube is okay, well do what they want. I'd certainly do a 120 one and a 400 one and show them the difference. Ask them, "how do you want to present yourself to the world?"

Another one to check out is On2 Flix Exporter. When installed it becomes a quicktime plugin. So that means anything that uses QT can use it (FCP for example). Just another option to think about.

FWIW, I think he's crazy too. I routinely push out flash files and the host company asks that the data rate be kept under 500k. My files are 498K. Fight for all the bandwidth you can get.
