Flares (in front and behind the lens) and ND filters

Maybe in the end this probably comes down to artistic preference but...

Are there any pros and cons to having ND filters in back of the lens (filter wheel of Sony FS 700) versus in front of the lens with a standard Mattebox filter? Are the flares generally nicer if the NDs are behind the lens? I assume nothing happens with the quality of the light either?

I wish I had money to rent an FS700 but was curious if any one had any experience, thoughts about this the order of lens to NDs and their preference of flares.

Thanks!

No difference. Its just a matter if the camera has build in ND or not. If not, you need to spend extra on a mattebox and ND filters.
