Flange Focal question.

I am new to the adapter thing so I need a question answered. I have an M2 and two mounts a Minolta and a Nikon. When I got this thing, used by the way, the focus was off so I took it apart and reset the GG so now I have spot on focusing and the Minolta lens I am using reads true as in 2ft is right at 2ft. Now the question is if the GG is now set does it make a difference if I change to Nikon lenses? And yes I do know that I have to change the mount at the front but when I measured them with my calipers they both read the same.

I think you're in for some tweaking. The Nikon flange to focal distance is 46.5mm while the Minolta is 43.5mm. Our mounts are manufactured so the correct distance is maintained by the micro-collimation system...however I'm not sure about the M2 setup. If the mounts you have are the same length, then you'll need to disassemble the unit and move the GG forward 3mm.

Ah, a fellow Canuck :-) Odd that you would ask as normally it's down to 10 C here during the day. Chris and I headed out to Hubert's (our customer service fellow) straw bale house with a few camera's, adapters, and a pile of lenses to capture the raising of a 1.5 kw wind generator. It was gorgeous out there with sun all day, a great crowd and some wonderful images. Fall here is a pretty special (turning colours) opportunity for shooting.

Btw, forgot to mention this but our microcollimation segment over at our Video University has some tips/tricks that might help you. The first segment, "Setting up your EX1..." has our little mirror trick in it to ensure that when you set up a focus chart, it's dead square to your rig. This will be important for you as you'll want to get the spinning disc in your M2 within .01mm of perpendicular to your plane of focus. That in turn will provide the best edge to edge sharpness possible.

You'll see us stocked at your local LL Lozeau store in a week or so :-)

Cheers,
Dennis.

I can imagine how beautiful it is there in the fall. You guys are going into the LL Lozeau, congratulations. Thanks for the tips and advice and I don't even own your product.
