Flaky sellers - can I post this?

I have responded to various "for sale" ads via PM and e-mail (where specified) recently. I have made multiple attempts and have had zero response via PM as well as e-mail. When people are selling items wouldn't you think that they would want to respond to questions/interest in their items for sale? Lately I feel like I have somehow "wronged" society or something because I have been trying to buy items for sale with no responses from the sellers. If an item is no longer for sale wouldn't you think that the seller would respond with something simple like "has been sold" or something like that? I mean.....it's only 3 words that aren't very hard tp type but hey, maybe it is much more difficult than I think it is.

Am I a douche without actually knowing about it? I am really starting to wonder.......

I know I am opening myself-up with that last question so please try to be kind :)

There seems to be a much higher percentage of "non-participant" sellers in the classifieds recently. Trying to sell an item without any real interest in the boards. I wouldn't take it personally. You can't expect everyone to be as Minnesota nice as some of us!

This is fairly typical on forums where people join simply to sell something, then forget to note where they posted!

Good one, Nate!

I guess what you guys said tends to make sense. It still puzzles me a bit though that IF they want to sell something that they don't return PMs or e-mails. When I get a PM here a little window pops-up when I log-in stating that I have received a message. It is pretty hard to miss. It is so easy to respond that they couldn't make it any easier here yet still....no responses.

Oh well, move on to the next item I guess.

The moderators should program auto delete after 30 days. with a link to re-post manually close to the 30 days? It sucks wasting all that time reading, searching, communicating with seller all for an ad that not current. easy fix and it would make this awesome Blog even better? Just sayn... I hear ya tho brother it seem this generation may have some folks, not all but, "I want everything for nothing" attitude. Sucks.

Don't you guys have a requirement of having to have x number of posts in the forum before you're allowed to sell? Or do people still just post BS to get up to that magic number?

I just encountered this yesterday. No response after a PM and a note in the thread stating "PM sent". The guy said he needed the money quickly in the thread and I was ready to give it to him but no response. So, I ended up buying new from an online store. It's a shame. I much prefer selling person to person because it puts money in other filmmakers' pockets.
