Flags of our Fathers

Re: Flags for our Fathers

The article was interesting. And if it turns out to be as good as Unforgiven, then I'm even more interested.

However, Clint is either dead, or should sue that publication for that horrible picture of him. OMG, Night of the living Clint. :o

Clint Eastwood directs Iwo Jima

Clint Eastwood directs Iwo Jima

I just heard that CE is (was) directing TWO films based on the WWII battles at Imo Jima. One is said to be the events told from an American POV - the other from the Japanese POV.

Anyone know anything else about this?

Ya gotta love Clint's work!

PS - The movies are Flags Of Our Fathers and Red Sun, Black Sand

all i know is the are to be released in november and december.
Im waiting for it becuase its:
Japanese culture
War
World War II
Both sided movies
and clint is directing both.

I was thinking about this whole new style of marketing that the movie industry could do - but Clint Eastwood beat me to it:

Imagine that you tell a story. It could be any story with twists and turns and epiphanies and downfalls. But imagine instead of telling it in one film, you tell it in two films. One from the protagonist or good side, and one from the antagonist or evil side. Release them on the same day. Imagine what this could have done for the light and dark side of Star Wars.

Benefits of this new double-movie release:
- Certain products will advertise with the protagonist movie and certain products will advertise with the antagonist movie.
- Tell the story from both sides and allow for even bigger twists and turns and get more insight into what would really happen
- Having the audience decide which one to see first. Imagine they see the antagonist movie first. They already have a bias against the protagonist. Then they see the protagonist movie and start to realize that they've been rooting for the wrong side. And vice-versa.

It would be a whole new type of movie experience. Only you'd have to pay everyone working on it double, because it would be two movies. Money is always that kind of problem.

It's Iwo Jima not Imo.

And i'm hoping this will be his best work since Unforgiven.

Not enough films focused on the PAcific Rim with the intensity that Saving Pvt. Ryan paid to the European Theatre.

I was slated to be a non-union extra in red sun black sand, but was too burned out from being in Fast and Furious 3: tokyo Drift to do it all over again :o

These two films are going to be instant classics.

Clint does it again.

It's amazing the number of quality, top-caliber, films that Eastwood is making so late in his career.

I'm not a fan of combat shots from a standing position. I think I'd shoot all f mine from the perspective of the troops at all times or the air or the enemy. But never standing there, above them, looking down like I'm filming a BBQ
