fixing over exposed white sky

Hello

I think this is probably a nonsense question but I had to try. As part of a documentary, I been shooting diffrents interviews with the same person sitting in the backseat of a van, the van is driving trough differents places so you see moving city and country landscapes and country in the background. Sometimes these background is good and sometimes are completely overexposed , so in the country situation you see a lot of white sky and some country background, It would be posible to color this white sky?

-Could it be posible to shoot proper background from the same van and with a similar van speed and then substitute with the exposed original backgroud trough the window, something like the hitchot movies in a car sort of thing. Excuse me if this is a total stupid question, I am very unexperienced in post.

thanks a lot

Put your interview clip on V2, whatever background scene you want (sky, clouds, running footage) on V1. Choose the interview footage and add the "key" effect to it. Choose "luma key">"key out brighter" and make (play around with) filter adjustments. We have used this technique several times and it works fairly well. Good luck.
