Fixing Frames

Hi

I have some claymation projects that need editing. In the past I have used Premiere and actually I still use Premiere for the stop motion capture element. But I want to move on to Vegas for the editing. My question is this: In Claymation there are many mistakes i.e. hands and arms that sometimes get in the way of the shot (I teach 8 - 12 year olds) that need to be edited out. Most can just be cut away but some need to be saved. In Premiere I used to simply export the frame as a still, fix it in Photoshop and then import it back into the project. I have tried this with Vegas using the frame capture in the preview window but when I import it back onto the timeline it is distorted.. squished a little bit. I have used every setting: best, full best, etc. but without any luck. Is there a simple way to export and import a frame and keep its integrity in Vegas? Or better yet, is there a way to photoshop a frame right in Vegas?

Thanks

GenJerDan,

Actually, it was set to square pixels and that was the problem. I set it to NTSC DV and that fixed it. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Hmmm...Vegas has always exported my stills a square pixels, so I would re-import them as square.

Maybe it depends on whether the Preview is set to "simulate device aspect ratio".

Again thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I have to say that after working with Vegas I find it hard to go back to Premiere and struggle with all the little glitches. I wonder now how I could have lived with it for seven years. Guess I was in denial. I wish Vegas had stop motion capture capabilities, I would remove Premiere altogether.
