fixing blown-out sky in post

What tips if any do you have for replacing a blown out sky in a shot or series of shots? I've seen this done with beautiful effectiveness on some really hi-end applications like Flame / Smoke. I get by with using Pinnacle Liquid Edition / Photoshop.
I'm considering buying Combustion for this and other purposes. Any ideas or tips to get me through in the meanwhile?

You may not be able to easily do a complete replacement but you could certainly apply a color grad in post which could improve its appearance significantly. You can create an overlay in PS or your NLE software may have a filter for this.

Ok I'll try ther color grad thing. I see the philosophy, repair what's there rather than adding something that wasn't.
