Fist of Legend

Anyone else notice the blatantly obvious Chinese propaganda in this? It's not even the least bit subtle, especially when they talk about Chinese unification and Taiwan...

Also, was it just me, or were the post-final battle scenes super anti-climactic? The female Japanese captain being addressed, and Chen Zhen standing on a rooftop in his Kato costume, followed by one line of text about how the Chinese kept fighting the Japanese?

You mean Legend of the Fist? It's a remake of Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury. I wouldn't call it propaganda, nationalistic certainly, in the vein of say Red Dawn or Mel Gibson's The Patriot.

to appreciate the Chinese POV in these films, refer to Sino-Japanese historical relations of the early 20th century.

While the 2010 film demonstrates technical superiority, I prefer Bruce Lee's version, only because Donnie Yen's version is so over the top anti-Japanese that actually made me cringe.

Edit: Jet Li's version is Fist of Legend, an earlier remake.
