Fisrt Render to Final Out?

I've recently made the switch from Premier to FCP...it seems an old story on this board. I have been been having trouble with understanding the process of taking a finished, edited sequence through all the steps to get it into the highest quality, cinematic look at final render. What are the steps and settings I need to know before I start rendering my sequences.
