Fisheye without black Corners

I know this was kinda touched on in the last thread, but im using a different camera, one not nearly as sweet.

Anyway, i to am looking for a fisheye lens, also because the snow is here, but im using a dvc30, with a 43mm lens and a much smaller budget. I found that Century makes two .3x lenses, a 600 dollar one and a 300 dollar one,

im thinking of the 300 dollar one, my question is also weather or not i will have the black corners and more so why. the lens has a 37mm thread, so id have to get a stepdown ring.

Can anyone explane/ or suggest some other lens?

Thanks soo much

you can't really use a fisheye with 37mm threads on a 43mm thread camera , such as the DVC 30. I have no first hand experience with it though, so I can't say exactly what the result would be if you did it. I can say however, that will probably get some heavy vignetting if stepping from 43-37mm. Think of like trying to look through a key hole, or something like that. Obviously a smaller diameter lense in front of a larger one just doesnt have the surface area to support the field of view....I would say either bite the bullet with the 600 dollar one, or go with a super wide angle lense, like the collinscraft .5x red eye. Supposedly its a reversible adapter that acts as a wide angle one way, and a fisheye the other. I haven't seen any images recorded with it, so I can't say how much of a fisheye effect you will get, but my guess is it wouldnt be as profound as with a .3x. You'll want to stick with Century though, as everyone elses glass isn't as good. and DO NOT buy a cheapo lense off of ebay....

Used?

Used?

yeah, thats what i was thinking to, is vignetting the black corners (sorry im new at this)?

and so if i were to buy a 52mm or 58mm, and step it down to a 43mm, im assuming i wpuldnt get the cornets, am i on the right track?

thanks alot

oh, and if anyones selling a used century optics .3x fisheye im interested

This lens is very short is there any pro or cons to say the "longer" 0.65x lenses?
