Fisheye questions

I'm in the process of finding the right wide angle/ fisheye lens for my 100b. Im pretty sure im gonna go with a century optics lens but had some questions i was hoping to clear up before i made my purchase. First off, for the fisheye, im looking at the fisheye adaptor (not the .3 death lens). Is it possible to zoom with this lens? even though the fisheye look may be gone, does the camera have the ability to zoom and focus? I also am looking at the .6 wide angle lens. i've read some other posts and seen that it can zoom up to around Z60. Other than the whole zooming thing, does anyone have any advice on which to buy first or if any other companies make quality fisheyes for a reasonable price?(around $400)

from what i understand you cannot zoom with a fisheye, I haven't received my lens yet so i cant really explain the distortion that occurs when zooming. if you are into zooming in, then you might be better off with a wide angle. I personally bought my lens for filming skate/surf so knowing how you plan on using it might be a first step.

i'm actually looking to get a fisheye as well (for a skate video), except i dont have quite that much $ to drop. I found this (http://www.demonfisheyelens.com/) which looks interesting. The low price scares me a little, especially since I havent seen any video samples, whats your take?

It looks like it has a 52mm lens mount, and even with a 72mm adapter, there is no way I can see that thing will work w/ the DVX.

Of course, I would be happy to be wrong, for only $80 that would be a steal for a fisheye.

oh god no!!!!! stay far far far away from the demon fisheye, its a complete rip off of another lens.

neil slade has an article on making a $100 fisheye lens for the dvx. i dont have the link with me at the time but here is a clip filmed with it:
http://www.kingcoyote.net/videos/dvxraynox.mov

it uses a raynox clip on fisheye that costs around $100 from b&h and a step ring with some jb weld and it comes out pretty damn good if you ask me.

when i get to my office tomm i will update this with the DIY link to his page. i know its www.neilslade.com but its not linked on his main page. but i have the century .3x fisheye and i can zoom in to about 14 before it goes out of focus real bad so i'm sure with the other fisheye you can zoom in a little bit but its gonna still be barrel distorted due to the glass. but that demon fisheye is the biggest joke ever. all of the photos on that page were not taken with that lens. whoever that company is just bought a bunch of those generic .42x semi fisheye lenses and ramarketed them to the skate industry which pretty much just made fun of them.

Hey, I use the collinscraft .5x redeye, and it's awsome. I did a small review on it here

I have some screen grabs there. With this lense you can zoom a little but not much. It has a little bit of barrell distortion, and will produce vignetting if stacked on top of another filter, but it's not too bad. Don't use it with the sunshade though, as you'll get extreme vignetting....it's a good lense though and I highly recommend it.
