Fisheye lens

I just bought a DVX100, and i was wondering what a good fisheye lens would be for it? I was looking at either a .45, or .3. and i only have a couple hundred dollars. anyone know if this one will work?

Yes and No..

Your DVX 100/A/B needs a lens with either a bayonet or 72mm mount while the one on eBay is only 37mm. So out of the box it will not work...

However, if you are feeling up to it.. check out this video: http://www.skateperception.com/small/articles/mk2mod.jpg to see how to modify the eBay lens to fit 58mm (Sony) or 72mm (DVX) mounts.

You should pretty much decide between the VX "death lens" or the DVX one. Either way it'll have the same vignetting. With the VX lens you will need steprings though, making it screw on... but someone on the skateperception site is working on making a DVX bayo mount that attaches to the VX death lens.

Also there is this... http://www.neilslade.com/Papers/DVXlens.html

I wouldnt recommend doing it though. Century kills raynox quality.

BUT (guessing you film snowboarding from your username, and I rarely see fisheye snowboarding) You should decide if you are going to shoot alot of fisheye, and maybe that will help you to decide if you want to go with the more expensive high quality lens (century) or the cheap lens (raynox).

There's also the regular .3x century fisheye:

Not only is it cheaper than the ultra fisheye adapter (AKA "death lens"), it has a flat surface on the front which is much easier to clean off in the snow ;)

The only thing is that it does not give as much distortion as the ultra - but the effect is still there

Might be worth a look :)
