First Real Web Page

Hi all. I have had my own server for four years, and of course, never made a web page for it. Still haven't. But, the place where I recently got a job had a client who wanted some modifications to a current page, as well as the creation of a new one. So here is the new page I designed and built:

http://www.topflitejrtour.com/index.html

It is still pretty large file size(s), but try explaining that to your client who thinks he knows more than you. I tell you what: Let me save you the trouble of actually talking to him. Just grab a handful of 20 penny nails and stab yourself repeatedly in the face and neck. That will approximate the experience nicely. The last link to the right goes to the WVGA main page which is the one I had to make some minor adjusting to.

The age group for this page is 10-15 years, 90% or so male. Don't get your panties in a bunch, that's just the breakdown as it is.

Thanks for taking a peek, and any comments and critiques, or POSITIVE crits are welcome. Enjoy!!!

Looks good. The only problem is that there's no real text. Search Engines (google, etc.) crawl websites and gather text to use as keywords. As is, that website will not have any keywords (except what's in your meta - which isn't worth as much as content) and few people will be able to find it.

The page could easily contain real text. It doesn't need to be one big image.

Good luck!

Thanks PK. I had not thought of that. Luckily, this is a page which primarily will be viewed by people who already know of its existance and need to get updates, scores, and info. It won't have any real meaning to anyone not involved, and those involved already had a page to visit. This one simply replaces that one.

But, I didn't even know Google would use text. That is definately something I will remember for future projects.

Thanks again.

I like it. Simple and straight forward.

I would rename the pages. The top says "Index"

I am guilty of having "Untitled Page" at the top of some of my pages. Also look into a favacon at Dynamic Drive.com. It impresses clients like you would not believe. "How did you get that Icon up there!?"

;)

What Ryan said. Jam pack it with as many keywords as you can; Top Flight Junior Tour, Golf, West Virginia...
According to a very expensive Search Engine Optimization CD by Scott Crumpton that a client gave me a couple of years ago (if I remember correctly) this is the first thing search engines look at.

Looks decent Matt, my only concern/crit would be the over use of Images rather than text, other than the issues of SEO, it would only take a few images to break to make the site unsuable, not to mention the bandwidth consideration for slow dial ups.

Keep up the good work, so long as the clients are happy, that's the first priority.

Looks good. One thing though, I tried scrolling using my scroll wheel and it wouldn't move down the page. Also didn't work when I pushed the scroll button in and dragged the mouse.

THanks to all for the nice words, suggestions, and pointers. They will make my next, which I will design without having the client looking over my shoulder, even better.
