First pics and leaked specs of Arri's new Alexa 35

If you put two Hawk-Woods 350w B-mount with four 86w Bebop hotswaps batteries beneath them on a shark fin, you'll get 1044w which with a 90w A35 power draw, perhaps 120w with accessories, will give you eight hours of run time, enough to get through most shoot days with lunch break without needing to change batteries.

My battery selection right now for A35...

2x Core SWX GPM-X2B Mini Dual Travel Battery Charger (B-Mount): I like the small size.

2x Hawk-Woods (350Wh): I like the high capacity.

SWIT 4-Channel Simultaneous Charger for Swit B-Mount Battery: I like the digital readout that the other quad chargers do not have.

3x SWIT HB-A290B 28.8V 290Wh: I like that the USB-C is an input and output, enabling you to both power your laptop and charge the batteries from a 70w Apple laptop charger. Using Apple laptop chargers as chargers is an even smaller and more portable charging solution than the Core travel charger, and with higher wattage so should charge faster.

3x bebob B90 CineHS 14.4/28.8V 86Wh: Hotswap capability. Waiting to hear confirmation that these batteries will drain last with any brand. SWIT also has a b-mount hotswap option, but it only lasts 2 minutes (rather than Bebop at somewhere under an hour) and isn't much smaller than the 86w bebop.

Core SWX Hot Swap Sharkfin: Only sharkfin I'm currently seeing for B-mount.

Total for batteries and chargers: $7,983.50

For memory, I’m thinking three 2 TB codex cards. 3 1 TB is tempting, though. I suppose if you’ve got the best camera, though, it may be best to have the best media that can do all frame rates in RAW. Maybe.

AbelCine is telling me end of year for expected delivery of my Alexa 35, said next year for my second Alexa 35 order which I placed a week or two after orders started, and if ordering now, one would expect summer of next year for delivery. Not sure if I’ll keep the second order, but have it in case I want it and don’t want to wait a long time to get it.

The Hawk-Woods 350's are what jumped out at me, too. I was thinking 3-4 and a charger. But I guess I need to think of a solution if I have to fly... Which is why I think one of my friends is going with some Core 150's. I'm kind of stumped as to why AB and Core aren't offering any real high capacity 26V batteries. Swit makes a 420, BUT it's only 14.4V. Kind of sucks to have all of this "power infrastructure" already in-place for 25 years, and now I have to essentially start from scratch.

I think I'm going with the 3x 1TB Codex cards & reader package, to start with. That's almost $7,500.

About two weeks ago, my dealer said I was probably looking at September or October by my place in line(initially they said Nov.). Already had a friend that offered to buy mine, if I get it before he gets his. I think I'd rather just work a deal to rent him mine, if he's still waiting.

Even though I've spent many 100's of thousands on gear, I've never spent six figures all at once on a single camera/camera package. Those days were on their way out when I came in, in the late 90's. Although I did know a few guys that did buy F900's brand new when they were $100K+ for just the body in the early 2000's. I think I spent $50K on my tape Vari and an "HD" monitor. Thankfully I was looking ahead a little and had already bought an HD lens a couple of years before, which saved me from having to plunk down probably another $25K-$30K, at that time. That camera made back its purchase price several times over that first year. I wonder if the Alexa will do the same for me?
