I am a video editor and finally got sick of Apple and their rip off prices. I purchased this ASUS on ebay: Asus K53E 15", i5-2450m, 3.10GHz Turbo, 4GB, 500GB Laptop

I am new to PC's but this has window 7 and turning it on I cant even get online :x

With my mac, Kindle and Phone I just turned them on and a list of wireless networks popped up and I connected. With my ASUS it doesnt have networks popup and Im not sure how to connect. Can anyone walk me through the steps? I dont know the information for any of my wireless/internet settings, its all just been click and connect before. Someone said a PC might not even have a wireless card? could this be the case? any help? Thanks and sorry for being so new to the PC/Windows world.

Here is a screen shot of what may show some problems:

The problem is that it doesn't have an internal WiFi device.

Looks like the listing said it did, so you probably want to take it up with the seller.

Have you tried pressing FN+F2 to see if it will enable the wireless? Or maybe look around the edges for a hard-switch for the wifi.

I have an Asus with a combo gigabit/wifi module and when the Wifi is soft-disabled it doesn't display in the device manager.

Check to make sure that the WiFi is turned on. Many laptops have a key or switch to enable / disable the WiFi

The switch on an Asus is usually on the row above the numbers row. Looks like a little aerial

F2 in my case.

agree F2 key on my wife's ASUS laptop also. In the bottom right hand of your screen you have a small picture of 5 bars of different length like what is to the left of "Connections are available" on your screenshot, but it probablyu has a red X through it. Press F2 and the red X will go. Click on that icon, and (unless you have turned off broadcasting the SSID name from your router), your wifi name will show up as an option to connect to (probably with several others that are within range). Click on yours and click connect. You'll need to input your security key.
