First Paying Job; output specs? ; HELP!

Hello ya'll. Sorry if this post is a little confusing, I am extreamly nervous/excited right now.

I have been editing in Vegas now for about a year, just doing friends stuff etc. Anyways, I got asked to re-edit a local corporate video, and they asked me for Digi-Beta tape format at the end.

Project was ironically shot with the DVX, with 24Pa. They have a Digibeta master and a Firewire drive with the project in 60i DV format. They said I can have the drive to do the re-edit. I think I am fine to that point.

So after I edit, here is the problem. They want a Digibeta copy so they can online it with an Avid to do color correction, and for the sound guys to re-compose with protools. Obviously I dont have a Digibeta deck, but can get access to one. The thing is they asked for visual timecode? that can turn off and on. I dont even know how to lay timecode on the vegas file so this is where it gets confusing. Do I just export the project onto the drive as a uncompressed quicktime or DV file, and the Digibeta guys i goto lay timecode on it?

Any help would be extreamly appreciated. Thank you!!!!

Re: First Paying Job; output specs? ; HELP!

DV is compressed as you know, i would print the tape using a DV template. If there is recompression such as in sony vegas if you add effects and transitions. I would output to an uncompressed avi or quicktime, if i had a fast machine of course.

Other than a timecode burn, i dont know of a technique where you can turn on/off timecode.

usually sound people need only to care about a time code burn, to line up tracks, dialogue, etc....this should be ample.

If you publish to dv, you can assign any time code you like, i dont why in the world they wanna turn it off/on,,, because they will visually see your code, provided that your printed the tape with timecode

if you did, then the timecode read out will be infront of them

i think they may have confused you, timecode is timecode and you can turn it on/off, as long as its there to begin with.

hope i helped
