First native 16:9 chip???

I have been searching forever now and Im loosing my mind;)

Im trying to find out which pro-sumer camera that first launched the fully native 16:9 ccd chip to achieve real widescreen. Not like XL2 that had a chip a little bit wider than 4:3, but still not 16:9, squeeze tecniques off all kinds, letterboxing, anamorphic lenses and what have you not. Just pure and simple:

Which one had the first fully native 16:9 chip or who, by other means, presented the first widescreen result without loosing image resolution.

Any 4:3 that will take an anamorphic screw on lens (DVX does) has a great 16:9 image. HDV cameras were probably the first to truly native 16:9 image. I would even say that the JVC 100 was the first as the Sony's all have a weird resolution and so doe the HVX200.

Could you please help me with model names for those HDV cameras you mentioned? I just need a list of the two, three first native 16:9 cameras as soon as I can cause Im selling my camera, and get all kinds of questions.

Like for instance: does the DVX100A (mine) shoot 16:9? How can I answer that in a thruthful way without writing a dossier for him and push a potential sale away?

Argh! Ignorance is....ignorance.... (im refering to mine too)

Lots of cameras shoot 16:9, but don't have a 16:9 chip. And there is confusion on the issue too. For example, the PDX10 is frequently credited with being one of the first 16:9 models, but it had a 4:3 chip, it just had a megapixel chip and they sampled a 16:9 patch off of it (and there was some Panasonic model that came out before it that did the same thing anyway). Same with the XL2, it's supposed to be "native 16:9" but it actually has a 4:3 chip, they just ignore all the pixels above and below the 16:9 area. So it effectively is only 16:9, but it then becomes a "smaller" chip (like 1/3.3" instead of 1/3").

Which was the first to have an actual 16:9-shaped sensor? Probably the JVC HD1, released around March of 2003 IIRC. That was the first consumer "high def" model and actually predates HDV; its format was later grandfathered in to the HDV standard.

There were true 16:9 sensors available in 2/3" chip cameras before then (such as the DSR500, etc) but I don't know of any prosumer/cheaper models with true 16:9 chips prior to that JVC.
