Hey guys,
So I finally got a chance to use this camera on a short I lensed last week. We got a great package deal from Abel Cine here in NYC. Those guys are the greatest. They say the HVX goes out faster than they can get them in. We had a sony CRT HD monitor on set which was oh so beautiful. I couldn't be happier with the picture quality unless we shot on 35mm. Now I'm home with footage for my reel and I realized I have no way of previewing out to a monitor with this stuff for any kind of color correction. I know most of us don't have a giant sony HD crt on their editing desk at home, so I was wondering what most of you were using for preview and color grading. I hear the Apple cinema display is good, and the Dell as well. Also read somewhere that they both use the same LCD screen. Thanks a bunch guys. :)

the HP L2335 is almost as cheap as the Dell, but uses the same panels as the Apple Cinema Display (LG). They also have S-Video and Component Inputs, and accepts either VGA or DVI connection. I have one, and the color is MUCH better than the 23" Apple (which tends to have a reddish hue when I've seen them in stores).

By comparison, Dell uses a Samsung panel in their 23". The problem with the Samsung is the poor angle of view.

Here is a good review of the HP L2335 for an idea of just how good this display can be.

I own one myself, and highly recommend it. :) Have a good one.

How are you uising this monitor to look at your HD footage...is there some kind of adapter?

Well, if I were you, I'd rent a CRT HD for a weekend, and grade the footage in those 48 hours. Should be worth it, if you think the work is "reel material"...

I'm buying the DeckLink HD Pro card (http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/hd/) to monitor my HD footage, you can go component or SDI out from Final Cut Pro. I believe this card will work with Premiere and Vegas as well...

As for the HP monitor, I looked it up on B&H and it doesn't list component inputs, just DVI, composite, VGA and S-Video...are they missing something or does the monitor not have the inputs...here's the link...

Thank you Taubkin, I don't know why I didn't even think of that. lol Although, the more HD work I get I may want to pick up one of these HP monitors as well. Thank you for the sugestions guys.

Cheers. :)
