Just wanted to introduce myself. I just purchased a DVX100a and I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions.

I shot about 2 hours worth of footage at the Long Beach Grand Prix this weekend. (I was suprised to see several other people with DVX's out there... anybody from in here???)

I actually got some good looking shots, which I didn't really expect on a first day with a camera this advanced. I made a HUGE upgrade from a Sony DCR-PC100.

So this is my first venture into "prosumer" video.

So thanks for having me, I look forward to learning about this thing and video in general.

Anybody have any other resources I should be reading?

Cool, thanks; I just signed up. I'm working on getting my site up and running so I can post clips, I haven't even had time to capture any of the footage I shot yet.

Soon, very soon.

I probably should have asked this before I placed the order, but are the batteries for sale on this site really 4 hour batteries? I just ordered two of them. That was the one thing that bummed me out this weekend, I only got about 50 minutes from the stock battery, AND even worse is that it shuts off when it says there are still 11 minutes remaining.

Definately not the end of the world, but it bugged me.

Thanks again

Yeah the stock battery sucks. I bought the 3.5 hour batteries before the 4.5 hours came out but they are pretty much one the money. I was at a 12 hour shoot and I kept rotating them with the recharger every 3.5 hours switched them out no problems. Plus I had the stock battery just in case as a backup. I did not use it.welcome aboard!! 8)

excellent, that's what I was hoping that the battery would last long enough to charge the other. Wasn't sure if the charge/discharge ratio would be the same as the stock... 2 hours to charge then only 50 minutes of usage doesn't cut it. I was thinking to myself, "geez, I hope it doesn't take 9 hours to charge these new batteries"

Thanks for the welcome!
